note: I pinky promise that I am not writing this post with a certain person in mind. if you feel that this was directed at you in some way or another or resembles somebody you know, it is merely coincidence and nothing else. forizzles.
I'm the kind of person that speaks up only when I feel that whatever I have to say is worth hearing; it's not that I am "shy" and it's most definitely not because I feel like whatever I say will be disregarded. I hate repeating things (even though probably 99% of this blog is me repeating something in one form or another) and if it's not important, I'm not gonna bother saying it. nine times out of ten, I will sit in the corner and watch the party proceed without so much of a squeak. why say anything if you have nothing important to say? this mindset has caused me to pull my hair out ever since I've gotten Facebook.
ever read that one status while scrolling down your news feed that makes you go, "good for you.. SOO?!?!" gawwl dangit, you're bored. NOBODY CARES. don't get me wrong. I don't mind people who post about things that make them happy (e.g. pictures of food, random landscapes, their breakfast, their lunch, their dinner, their car, random stories of school, church, and life in general etc). by all means, go for it. it reveals the kind of person you are and the things you love (or hate, in some cases). in some ways, it's a sense of self-expression. perhaps I'm going overboard with it, but all I'm saying is I don't have anything against that.
to be honest, I'm kind of two-sided on this issue. I mean if I had such a big problem with the people that do stupid things, why not just "unfriend" these people, you ask. come now, let's be grown-ups. first of all, I'll admit that I'm very selective with who I friend on Facebook. I don't really go on the initiative to friend people unless I've had a decent conversation with them and know them to a certain extent. most of the time, people friend me, but I never have the heart to decline them, so I just let them sit in the waiting room for ages. some people think that's mean, others just don't see why it's such a big problem. it's not that I'm paranoid (okay, maybe a slight bit). I just don't see the point of friending somebody I don't/have never talked to. if you wanna be friends with me, then BE friends with me. stalking my Facebook page will get you nowhere and frankly I'm slightly uncomfortable with the fact that a person I would regard as a stranger is looking through my photos and can see what I'm up to whenever he/she wants. that being said, I'm fairly comfortable with the people on my friend's list and I find "unfriending" them to be quite.. extreme.
okay, so unfriending isn't an option. well, you could block their activities from your news feed then, right? and here's where I'm two-sided. why are you even friends with this person if you're just going to block all their activities from your news feed? even if indirectly, what this person says and does on Facebook is essentially him/her being him/her.
I feel like after I've said all this, I've just been caught red-handed according to my own judgement. oh how delightful. go ahead, ask me. I know you're dying to know...
why in heaven's name do you even have a blog/Twitter/Facebook/Tumblr/random social networking outlet then? great question. I'll answer that when the moon turns blue.
jesting.
I treat my blog as an outlet, so actually I talk about nonsense 24/7 here. but in my defense, there's a difference between scrolling down a news feed and reading something stupid by accident and clicking on a blog link and reading something stupid intentionally. at least, I think so. honestly, the blog is solely for me to vent (see what I'm doing now?) and speak my heart out to whomever is fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to stumble upon these ramblings and continue coming back for seconds. in translation, if you're reading this: you, my friend, are awesome.
as for why I have Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook... I'll admit, Twitter is pointless unless you enjoy random celeb's day-by-day (usually worthless) two-pence. Tumblr's useful when you want to post high quality pictures and blog at the same time. the only problem is that it's pointless for me because I already have this blog. and as for Facebook? what would happen to the world if I didn't post a picture of that flower I took earlier today?
alright, I'm off to post this on my profile. the world needs to hear my ramblings... via Facebook.
sue me.
thank you thank you thank you thank you....for venting for me!!!! hahaha!!! :D :D great blog Ariel!
