the place was in the throes of chaos. all around people gasped and shook their heads.
oh my goodness. was all a lady was able to say.
another simply shook his head, a little wide-eyed and said, "this is crazy".
an older-looking man, stepped out, clutching his items to his chest and shouted high above the crowd, "hooooly mackerel!"
a child looked at her mum and asked pleadingly what they were supposed to do.
and then there was some that just stood frozen to the ground, as if they had been immersed in some sort of traumatic situation, repeating the words over and over "oh my God, oh my God".
profanities were said. ...rather loudly.
mothers held their children close to them, squeezing their hands so tight they turned pale.
i, on the other hand, just got in line with the many others who had some sense to react.
where was i?
i was in the middle of a tightly, packed crowd and one of the many trying to get away from the incoming disaster, also known as hurricane irene.
. . .
NO REALLY?
just kidding.
one might've assumed so, but no..it was just me standing in a what-seemed-like an endless line at the supermarket about to check-out. the place was flooded and crammed with people trying to stock up on goodies before Irene hit. took me and mum a good two hours to get all we wanted and we STILL forgot all the canned goodies...yup. probably gonna take another trip out tonight. we barely got enough water as all the shelves had already been emptied.
expecting power outage sometime this weekend so i'm posting this as a little warning if you start wondering whether or not i've decided to drop off the face of the earth (errr internet, rather). church over here has been cancelled for Sunday. i'm hoping it won't hit too hard. is it sad i'm sorta excited about the hurricane? yeah, probably. bro and i were just saying earlier how i didn't get to experience the earthquake and now i get the hurricane, and he gets the opposite since he left this morning. yerp, we're weird like that, i suppose. runs in the family. okey dokes, i plan to post monday. if i haven't...(prepare to drown in cheese-fest) let me just say, it's been awesome knowing you and i'll see you...on the other side...? I'M KIDDING, I'M KIDDING. sheesh. laters.
