Fatty Friday || Brownie Banter [take one]

I have to say this before I get in too deep:

I dislike brownies.

I'm not joking. I'm not lying. I am not being sarcastic. I am telling the truth.

now, that's kind of a strange thing, because if you know me, I absolutely love chocolate. however, when it comes to brownies, there's always something about it that makes me go O_O . and not in a good kind of way... I've come to the conclusion that the reason I don't like brownies is because I have yet to taste/eat a reaally really good one (store-bought junk don't count).

so why am I making this post then? well, it's because I don't like brownies that I'm doing this little experiment, or rather "experiment". you see, brownies are all about texture. when you get down to it, it really all tastes the same... but the texture? well, there are three main textures of a brownie: fudge-y, cakey, and chewy. they say the texture has to do with the proportion of the flour, eggs, and chocolate that goes into it. and over the course of a couple weeks, I'm going to try making/perfecting the brownie (as of now, I'm going to aim for something more fudge-y) I'm also going to try and get the ingredients to as little as possible... it's going to be hectic. but a lot of fun.

 here are my core ingredients as of now:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 4 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • pecans or walnuts (optional)
the butter, sugar, cocoa powder were mixed together first, and then the rest of the ingredients were added in the order listed. the mix was baked at 350 for 25 minutes. after letting it cool, I cut myself a piece and... the verdict? waaay too dry. think I need to add more butter... (the recipe actually called for 1 cup butter, but I couldn't bring myself to put two sticks into the mix haaha). cutting down the bake time by 3-4 minutes would probably help some too and instead of cocoa powder, I'm going to try it with some real chocolate. and now I have a ton of dry leftover brownies waiting to be eaten. I guess it'll have to be washed down with a glass of milk over the next few days.

 let the calorie count ensue.
