Treasure Cove: On Repeat

you know that feeling when you find a new song and about a few seconds into it you know it'll be on repeat for the rest of the week, no breaks in between and you just can't get enough of it? or better yet, after listening to one of those said songs by the artist, you listen to some of his/her other songs and discover that they're ALL superb? mmm, i love it when that happens.

anyway, thought i'd share with you some songs that are on my playlist currently. some of these have been recently added, some have been on my playlist for awhile. only some of the videos are embedded. why? idk, because i felt like it. haha, skip my nonsense talk if you wish ;)

[aerial promenade-seagull orchestra] found this yesterday actually. seagull orchestra was a side project of adam young (owl city). the guy is pure genius, love his stuff. there are no vocals in this song. purely instrumental and gorgeous. it's the kind of song where i would stick my earbuds in tight, shut my eyes and relive fond memories all over again.

[the real world-owl city] downy feathers kiss your face and flutter everywhere. reality is a lovely place, but i wouldn't wanna live there. he opened the show with this song sunday night and it was amazing.

[the yacht club-owl city ft lights] favorite line has got to be when he sings "cause i could never ask her to dinner or even to dance" when he sang this live, he looked right as us, chuckled and said "riiiiiighttt?" then proceeded to do his little arm wave dance. cutest thing ever.

[galaxies-owl city] i was surprised he sang this in concert, but glad all the same. even though he claims to be a super shy and introverted guy (even suffering from asperger's syndrome) he is pretty bold about his faith. (check out his blogdear God, i was terribly lost when the galaxies crossed and the sun went dark. but dear God, you're the only North Star i would follow this far.

[brielle-sky sailing] another project by adam. contains more acoustic than his usual techno-ish vibe. still brilliant as usual.

okay okay, no more owl city before you start crying...

[without you-david guetta ft. usher cover] as some of you know, i usually like covers of songs better than the originals, (the original wasn't too bad though). this one's covered by jrice and peter hollens, and i must say the beginning is especially catchy.

and then get this, i found an instrumental version done by the talented pianoguys. love them.

absolutely beautiful. kind of song that makes me want to laugh and cry all at the same time. for best results, curl up with a cup of tea and bask in some surreal dreams. ;) (you can check out their channel right here.

[nineteen-alex g] fav line: truth can't cure the blind, if they don't care to see. it's true. =T

[a thousand years-christina perri cover] their little duet+this song=beautiful. if you're not fan of the song, but still want a good laugh, check out aj rafael's cover. after listening to his, i couldn't really listen to the song the same way anymore. hehe make sure you stick around til the end for the bloopers. ;)

speaking of aj, this song is awesome. [without you-aj rafael] when it first came out, i didn't like it all that much...then one ranndom morning, i woke up and this song was playing in my head. idk, this happens to me alot. so i looked it up and saw the video of him playing it for his friend's wedding. so sweet. after that, i had a whole different take on the song. does that ever happen to you? or it just a me thing... hm...

[it's love-kina grannis] kina grannis. enough said. (song ends 3:33)

[true colors-phil collins cover] nick pitera's voice is amazing! ahh. sometimes not a big fan of his high "girl" voice, but i think he pulled it off really well in this song.

[i miss you-blink 182 cover] boyce avenue+cobus=genius cover. heard it last week, still on repeat.

[you make me feel-cobra starship ft sabi cover] not the biggest fan of jason chen or tiffany alvord but catchy and fun to dance to when nobody is around the house haha.

[superbass-nicki minaj cover] a tylerrrr warrrd, eppic and alex g acoustic cover of superbass minus all the inappropriate language.

okay last one. this one is purely for entertainment purposes hahaha. [prom night-the perfect theory]. perfect theory is yet another side project by adam young. this was wayy back when his voice was uhm. yeah. just listen very, very closely to the lyrics and have a good laugh. song gets even better after 1:30
